Eurowings jet at Düsseldorf airport baptized to bear the name of the city of „Goch“
It is almost eight years ago that the city of Goch on the Lower Rhine had applied to Lufthansa to "godfather" a plane and now mayor Karl-Heinz Otto was invited: By mid-October, a Bombardier CRJ-200 of the Eurowings fleet was baptized to bear the name of his city at Düsseldorf airport. As „flying ambassador“ of the weaver city, the „Goch“ will fly regularly to several European destinations such as Paris, Sofia, Prague and Madrid. The Goch is one of totally 35 jets of the regional fleet of Eurowings with 50 to 98 seats.
The spokesman of the management of Düsseldorf Airport, Christoph Blume, and Peter Kranich, member of the board of Eurowings, underlined the good cooperation between Eurowings/Lufthansa and Düsseldorf Airport. For example, Eurowings was one of the airlines with the largest number of takes-offs and landings per day and a large technical base with 14 planes stationed there. Besides, Peter Kranich referred to the fortchoming fleet roll-over: 15 new planes of the Bombardier CRJ-900 type (86 seats) will replace the BAe fleet from April next year.

„This is a very special day for us, the poeple of Goch“, the mayor is proud of this day of honor for his 24-ton "godchild", and with him the delegates of his city, representatives of the local press and regional radio and tv stations. Ingrid Otto had a special task to fulfill: According to the Lufthansa protocol, she, the wife of the mayor, was allowed to christen the 21.50 meter wide, 6.30 meter high amd 21.50 meter wide 50-seater plane wheras her husband unveiled the new name of the CRJ-200.
During the following inspection of the plane, the modernized interior of the Goch was appreciated especially: It not only has fancy and brand-new gray leather seats but alsobears the city arms of Goch.
